Why I Created the Antenatal Class I Wished I'd Found

Hi, I'm Yvonne, mum of two boys and founder of Whirl & Wonder.

With my first pregnancy, I experienced the invaluable connection antenatal classes can provide, and I was disappointed to find nothing tailored specifically for second-time parents when expecting my second child. Time was precious as I juggled work, parenting, and pregnancy. I didn't just want a recap of birth prep. I wanted to connect with other local parents preparing for baby number two.

Without this support, I felt isolated during those early months with a newborn and a toddler. When I ventured to local baby classes, I didn't feel I belonged. I wasn't navigating first-time worries anymore and I didn't have time for afternoon coffee walks. I was juggling nursery pickups and dinner preps, bedtime routines and toddler meltdowns all with a baby on my hip.

Everything changed when I finally met other second-time parents who understood my reality. We swapped stories, supported each other, and celebrated the wins (like managing bedtime solo with a newborn and a toddler!).

“Being a second-time parent isn't necessarily harder - it's different.”

This revelation inspired me to become a certified antenatal and postnatal coach specialising in supporting families as they navigate the beautiful whirlwind of welcoming another child.

Today, Whirl & Wonder offers specialised Antenatal Classes and Socials for (expecting) second-time parents in East London.

And every time I see new connections form between parents who understand each other's journey, I'm reminded of why this matters so deeply. Because no parent should have to navigate this journey alone. Because every growing family deserves to feel supported. And because there's extraordinary joy to be found in the whirl and wonder of it all.
